Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood located in the West Island of Montreal is one of those "sleepy" location. Many people who don't know about the place mistakenly think that they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. Actually it is it is the West Island includes everything westward of the city of Lachine. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is often known as the place where she was born. However, she only stayed there for a short duration. Brugel was raised on Courtice just outside Oshawa in Ontario. She aspired to be a professional dancer but because of a huge growth spurt she outgrew every dance partner she met. The Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. As soon as I outgrew the size of my male friends, I stopped. Some former dancers switch into acting. In Brugel's case it was a suggestion from a high school drama teacher which encouraged her to go in that direction. Her teacher advised her to audition for the role of Anne for their school's annual production. Following a trial the role, she was chosen as the main character of Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than twenty years, and she's performed in more than 60 shows that have screened on large screens as well as smaller screens. The most well-known role she played was the one of Rita (pictured beneath) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel made an appearance on only a handful of instances in the initial season of the show The Handmaid's Tale. She was the sole Canadian actor.
